Training Matrix for Remote and Hybrid Field Teams
A dispersed team does not change what a matrix is — named people, assigned requirements, dates and evidence. It does change how you collect files and run reviews: fewer corridor reminders, more explicit deadlines, and filters by region, client or supervisor instead of “everyone in the yard”.
Quick answer
Keep one live matrix, require digital evidence uploads to a named standard, assign a regional or supervisor owner for chase-ups, and review expiries on a fixed weekly call. Do not maintain a separate “home worker” spreadsheet that never meets the site file.
What hybrid breaks
- Paper certificates left in vans for weeks
- Supervisors assuming “HR has it” while HR assumes site has it
- Inductions completed online but never copied to the matrix
- Renewals booked locally with no central date update
Operating rhythm
- Publish upload rules (file type, naming, both card sides).
- Give each worker or supervisor a simple way to submit evidence.
- Run a weekly expiring filter by region before mobilisation.
- Confirm matrix updates the same day evidence arrives — not at month-end.
Site-specific inductions still need project columns. Remote status does not make a client brief optional.
Honest limits
FieldClear centralises records and reminders for distributed teams. It does not replace supervision, risk assessment or competence judgements on the job. Not legal advice.
