How Long Does a PASMA Certificate Last?
PASMA mobile access tower training certificates commonly last five years. Copy the expiry from the certificate or card, keep the course type clear (for example towers for users), and renew before the date passes — a lapsed tower ticket is a frequent gate and audit finding.
Quick answer
Use five years as the usual PASMA certificate life, then verify the document in hand. Record it as its own requirement alongside IPAF and CSCS so one current ticket cannot hide another gap.
PASMA is not IPAF
Powered access and mobile towers are different equipment families. Merging them into one “access” column creates false confidence. Keep separate rows, separate evidence and separate reminders.
| Requirement | What to store |
|---|---|
| PASMA | Certificate/card expiry, course title, file |
| IPAF | PAL expiry and categories |
| Harness / rescue (if assigned) | Own dates and evidence |
Site realities
- Principal contractors often spot-check tower tickets on the day
- Agency labour must produce named evidence, not a company claim
- Toolbox talks do not replace an expired PASMA certificate
- List who will erect or use towers on the package.
- Confirm PASMA status before mobilisation.
- Book renewals with enough lead time.
- Update the matrix when certificates arrive.
Honest limits
FieldClear organises PASMA dates you assign. It does not run PASMA courses or certify tower competence. Confirm current scheme practice with your training provider. Not legal advice.
