Should Site Inductions Be on the Training Matrix?

Yes — if gate access or client rules depend on induction, record it on the same operational matrix as cards and courses. Keep inductions site- or client-specific so a new project date does not overwrite the previous site's evidence. Induction still is not a formal training qualification.

Quick answer

Put inductions on the matrix when mobilisation teams need one view of who can enter tomorrow's site. Use separate columns or tagged requirements per site. Do not treat a current induction as proof of IPAF, first aid or other tickets.

What to store

  • Site or client name
  • Completion and validity or expiry rule
  • Attendance or portal evidence
  • Gate-pass status where used
  • Re-induction trigger or version

Failure mode to avoid

One induction column that overwrites the previous site date looks current while proving attendance at the wrong project. Prefer site-tagged rows or requirements.

Review rhythm

  1. Filter inductions for the sites mobilising this week.
  2. Check validity rules after major site changes.
  3. Chase missing portal completions before the gate, not after.
  4. Archive old site columns when the project closes.

Honest limits

FieldClear tracks inductions you assign and evidence you record. It does not grant access or set client re-induction rules. FieldClear tracks assigned requirements only — it is not legal advice.
