What Is a CCNSG Safety Passport?
The ECITB CCNSG safety passport is a health and safety passport used widely on engineering construction and related sites. It evidences core safety knowledge for those workplaces — it is related to, but not the same as, a CSCS card, and national versus client or site variants are not always interchangeable.
Quick answer
Treat CCNSG as an ECITB safety passport requirement where the client or site specifies it. Record passport type, issue and expiry, and keep CSCS or trade cards in their own columns so access packs stay honest.
What it is for
- Engineering construction and similar controlled sites
- Demonstrating core H&S knowledge at induction or gate
- National and named variant routes — check acceptance
- Separate from trade competence and CSCS occupation cards
Recording tips
- Name the passport type (national or named variant).
- Store issue and expiry with evidence.
- Tag which clients or sites accept that variant.
- Track site induction separately from the passport.
Honest limits
FieldClear tracks CCNSG records you assign. It does not grant site access, verify ECITB status or decide whether a client requires CCNSG. Not legal advice.
