Built for layered MRO evidence
A current Part-66 AML is not the same as a type endorsement or a company certifying authorisation. Keep each layer on its own requirement so planners see which clock fails first.

Reminders before renewal and review windows
CAA renewal and internal authorisation reviews need lead time. Warnings go out before a heavy check or line cover loses a named person — not after the gap appears at shift brief.

Quick answer
An aircraft maintenance training matrix is a live grid of hangar and line people against the Part-66 categories, type ratings, continuation training and company authorisations your organisation assigns. FieldClear imports your existing Excel register, calculates who is current, expiring or missing, and can remind you before renewals. It tracks records you assign — it does not grant CAA privileges, issue Part-66 licences, certify airworthiness or replace your Part-145 quality system.
Why MRO matrices drift
Licence printouts, type-course certificates and authorisation letters live in different folders. Continuation training refreshes on company cycles while AML validity runs separately. A shared workbook collapses those layers into one green cell until a work package or audit exposes the gap.
How teams usually start
- Upload the training or authorisation matrix you already maintain.
- Map AML, category, type and company authorisation to separate requirements.
- Attach licence scans, type certificates and authorisation letters.
- Turn on reminders matched to renewal and quality-review lead times.
- Filter named hangar or line teams before a check or cover window.
Honest boundaries
FieldClear does not grant licences, decide regulatory privilege, certify airworthiness or replace Part-145 authorisation and release-to-service processes. Verify licence status with the CAA where your procedure requires it. This page is operational product information — not legal or aviation regulatory advice.
You can keep using Excel. But Excel won’t chase expiries for you.
Excel is flexible, familiar and free, which is exactly why almost every contractor starts there. The limitation isn’t the spreadsheet — it’s that a spreadsheet can only tell you what someone last typed into it.

Plenty of contractors run a perfectly good spreadsheet for years. The question isn’t whether Excel works — it’s whether anyone is checking it the week something quietly expires.

Questions people ask before signing up
Who is FieldClear for?
Contractors, trades and facilities teams that keep a training matrix or certificate register — typically about 10 to 200 active workers. It fits teams replacing Excel for expiry tracking, evidence and reminders. It is not an LMS, not an accreditation service, and not a full HSEQ suite for RAMS, COSHH or equivalent site documentation.
Can I import my existing Excel training matrix?
Yes. Upload an Excel or CSV file, map the columns to workers, roles, qualifications and expiry dates, then preview the result. Nothing is created until you confirm the import.
Can I get reminders before certificates expire?
Yes. The system monitors expiry dates and sends reminders in advance. You choose how far ahead reminders are sent and who receives them.
When should we use FieldClear instead of Excel?
Use FieldClear when more than one person edits the matrix, when certificates expire without anyone noticing, or when you need evidence attached to the same record as the date. A carefully maintained spreadsheet can still work for a tiny team with one owner; FieldClear is for when the spreadsheet has become an active operational job.
Does the software tell me which qualifications are legally required?
No. The system helps you track the requirements your organisation assigns. You remain responsible for determining what applies to your workers and activities. We do not provide legal or health and safety advice.
How does the free trial work?
You get 14 days with the full product and no card required. Import your matrix, invite colleagues and see whether it fits how you work. If you do nothing at the end of the trial, the account simply stops.
