How Long Does Confined Spaces Training Last?

Confined-spaces training certificates commonly sit on one- to three-year refresher cycles depending on risk level, role and provider — always use the date on the certificate and your safe system of work. Low-, medium- and high-risk courses are not interchangeable, and rescue capability is a separate record.

Quick answer

Copy the printed or provider expiry, note the risk tier and role (entrant, top person, rescue), and verify client scheme rules where they apply. Do not treat a generic confined spaces – current cell as proof a full team can enter.

Team configuration

Read the matrix as a crew: entrants without a top person or rescue plan are not ready. Track each requirement so incomplete crews show before mobilisation.

Renewal habits

  1. Filter confined-spaces rows inside your warning window.
  2. Confirm the course level still matches the planned work.
  3. Book practical elements with enough lead time.
  4. Update dates only when evidence is received.

Honest limits
