How Long Does a CISRS Card Last?
CISRS (Construction Industry Scaffolders Record Scheme) cards commonly renew on a five-year cycle. Always confirm the grade printed on the card and any scheme conditions that apply before the printed date — labourer, trainee, scaffolder, advanced and supervisor grades are not interchangeable.
Quick answer
Treat five years as the common CISRS card life, then verify the face expiry and grade. Keep CISRS separate from scaffold inspection training and general working-at-height awareness.
What to record
- CISRS grade and card number
- Card expiry date
- Front and back card images
- Trainee or supervision restrictions
- Linked Part 1, Part 2 or advanced course evidence
Grade mistakes
A spreadsheet that marks every scaffolder CISRS current without grade will overstate capability. Principal contractors check the card, not the office summary.
Renewal planning
- Filter CISRS rows that expire before the scaffold programme ends.
- Confirm the grade still matches the gang mix required.
- Book renewals with lead time around hire peaks.
- Update the matrix when the new card evidence arrives.
Honest limits
FieldClear tracks CISRS cards you assign. It does not verify live scheme status or authorise scaffold work. Verify scheme dates. Not legal advice.
