CHAS vs Constructionline Training Evidence
CHAS and Constructionline (including Common Assessment Standard pathways) both ask how you control competence and training, but the questionnaire shape and sample depth differ by stage and buyer add-on. Keep one honest matrix of named people and dates, then extract the pack each scheme asks for — do not maintain two conflicting spreadsheets.
Quick answer
Treat both as recurring evidence cycles against the same underlying workforce record. Map your role-based requirements once, keep certificates readable, and export scheme-specific samples. Mutual recognition under SSIP may reduce duplicate core assessment work, but client modules and higher stages still drive extra training questions — check the exact ask before rebuilding the pack.
What usually differs in practice
| Topic | CHAS-oriented packs | Constructionline / CAS-oriented packs |
|---|---|---|
| Emphasis | H&S management story plus named examples | Structured CAS/module answers plus evidence uploads |
| Training sample | Often role-linked certificates and inductions | Often workforce competence questions tied to work categories |
| Subcontractors | Process plus sample evidence | Supply-chain control questions with evidence |
| Reuse tip | Same matrix fields; different export filter | Same matrix fields; different portal upload set |
One matrix, two extracts
- Maintain a single source of people, roles, requirements, dates and files.
- Tag or filter by the sample each submission needs.
- Attach company-level documents outside worker rows (policy, monitoring arrangements).
- Record which scheme stage and date the last pack was frozen for.
- After either assessment, close queries in the live matrix so the next buyer sees the fix.
Evidence both sides commonly expect
- Named supervisors with SMSTS/SSSTS or equivalent where you assign them
- Operative cards and tickets relevant to the work categories claimed
- First-aid cover planning evidence where asked
- Induction or briefing examples with dates
- Clear agency and subcontractor control examples
Honest limits
FieldClear does not achieve CHAS or Constructionline membership, interpret CAS modules, or guarantee assessment outcomes. Guide and product pages help you organise training evidence for whatever scheme you pursue. This comparison is operational information, not legal or accreditation advice.
