Appointed Person Training Records — Ticket Distinct From the Appointment
Track appointed-person lifting tickets, dates and files. The appointment itself stays in your lifting procedure. FieldClear does not appoint anyone under LOLER.
- AP ticket as its own requirement
- Appointment remains your signed process
- Crane supervisor and slinger kept separate
- Import the lifting-team list you already keep
14-day free trial. No card required.

A ticket is not an appointment
Someone can hold an appointed-person course and not be appointed on this job. Record the ticket here; sign the appointment in your own procedure.

The lift team is several records
AP, crane supervisor, operator and slinger fail independently. One “lifting trained” cell hides which role is actually missing.

Reminders before the crane day
Finding an expired AP ticket when the crane is on hire is a programme failure. Warnings exist so you can reappoint or retrain.

Quick answer
Appointed person training records in FieldClear means tracking the lifting appointed-person course, date and evidence for named people. It does not appoint them under LOLER, write a lift plan, or replace a crane supervisor or slinger record.
The name on last year’s lift plan
Lift plans name an appointed person. The course expired. The appointment letter was never withdrawn. Separate the training record (dates, files) from the appointment act (your signature, this job).
Track the course; appoint per job
- Add appointed-person training as a requirement.
- Keep crane supervisor, operator and slinger as their own requirements.
- Attach certificates.
- Review named people before a crane day.
- Issue and withdraw appointments in your lifting procedure, not in FieldClear.
What FieldClear does not do
- It does not appoint an appointed person, crane supervisor or slinger.
- It does not write or approve lift plans.
- A green cell is not authorisation to lift.
You can keep using Excel. But Excel won’t chase expiries for you.
Excel is flexible, familiar and free, which is exactly why almost every contractor starts there. The limitation isn’t the spreadsheet — it’s that a spreadsheet can only tell you what someone last typed into it.

Plenty of contractors run a perfectly good spreadsheet for years. The question isn’t whether Excel works — it’s whether anyone is checking it the week something quietly expires.

Questions people ask before signing up
Does the software tell me which qualifications are legally required?
No. The system helps you track the requirements your organisation assigns. You remain responsible for determining what applies to your workers and activities. We do not provide legal or health and safety advice.
Can I store certificates?
Yes. Attach supporting evidence such as PDFs and images to worker records, so the certificate sits alongside the expiry date rather than in a separate folder.
Can I import my existing Excel training matrix?
Yes. Upload an Excel or CSV file, map the columns to workers, roles, qualifications and expiry dates, then preview the result. Nothing is created until you confirm the import.
Can I get reminders before certificates expire?
Yes. The system monitors expiry dates and sends reminders in advance. You choose how far ahead reminders are sent and who receives them.
Who is FieldClear for?
Contractors, trades and facilities teams that keep a training matrix or certificate register — typically about 10 to 200 active workers. It fits teams replacing Excel for expiry tracking, evidence and reminders. It is not an LMS, not an accreditation service, and not a full HSEQ suite for RAMS, COSHH or equivalent site documentation.
How does the free trial work?
You get 14 days with the full product and no card required. Import your matrix, invite colleagues and see whether it fits how you work. If you do nothing at the end of the trial, the account simply stops.
Your training matrix already exists. Make it useful.
Upload your spreadsheet and turn it into a live view of who’s current, what’s expiring and what needs attention.
