Our certificate expiry tracker spreadsheet — optimised for scanning dates rather than a full workers × many-requirements matrix. Rename the certificate column to CSCS (and use card type for colour or grade) so you can filter expiring cards each week.

• Worker name, role and worker type
• Certificate / requirement name (use “CSCS”) and optional card type
• Expiry date as a real Excel date
• Days until expiry and status via formulas
• Evidence location and notes

CSCS-specific tips

1. Record card type (labourer, skilled, supervisory, etc.) — “CSCS yes” is not enough for most gate checks.
2. Enter the expiry printed on the card as DD/MM/YYYY.
3. Store a clear photo or PDF path in the evidence column.
4. Remember renewals often need an up-to-date CITB HS&E test — track that separately if you assign it.
5. Filter Status to Expiring and Expired before each mobilisation week.
6. Put a diary reminder in place — Excel will not email you.

Matrix vs dedicated CSCS tracker

Use this expiry layout when the weekly question is “whose CSCS lapses this month?” Use a full training matrix when you also need IPAF, first aid and other columns on the same person. Both should share the same dates and evidence — not two conflicting sources of truth.
